An index of journal articles, books reviews, and dissertations on the history and culture of the United States and Canada from earliest times to the present.

Contemporary Women's Issues
A full-text database providing global information on women covering 1992 to the present.

ERIC
An index to journal articles, books, theses, curricula, conference papers, standards and guidelines.
Especially useful for educational impact in the area of African-American studies.
Please note: Beginning in January 2004, the U.S. Department of Education is implementing a reengineering plan for the ERIC database. See: Educational Resources Information Center. Consequently, it is projected that no new records will be entered in ERIC until September 2004. For current journal articles in education, use another database, such as Education Full Text.

Expanded Academic ASAP
An index to bibliographic references, abstracts, or full-text articles from more than 600 scholarly journals and popular magazines from 1980 to the present.

Greenwood Daily Life Online
Looks at the everyday lives of people throughout history (antiquity to present) from the material, religious, domestic, political, recreational, intellectual, and economic viewpoints. Based on numerous primary and secondary resources, the database includes historical overviews, maps, illustrations, chronologies, and sidebars. Organized by time period, region, and topic.

HarpWeek: The Civil War Era and Reconstruction (1857-1877)
Provides full-text access to 21 years of Harper's Weekly, a leading 19th-century illustrated newspaper.
Researchers can search the full text, browse the individual issues, or use the thesaurus-based index. They can also browse through the categories of Geography, Literary Genre, Occupation or Role in Society, and Topic Headings.

Historical Abstracts   1955 to the present
Covers all aspects of history (excluding the United States and Canada) from 1450 to the present.

Humanities Abstracts
Indexes a broad range of some 500 magazines and journal publications in the humanities.
Covers topics in archaeology and classical studies, folklore, history, language and literature, performing arts, philosophy, religion, and related subjects.
Coverage extends from 1983 to the present. Continues print Humanities Index, 1975-1996 (REFB AI 3 .H85) and Social Sciences and Humanities Index, 1965-1974 (REFB AI 3 .R282).

Humanities & Social Sciences Index Retrospective: 1907-1984
Indexes nearly 1,200 periodicals in the social sciences and humanities, providing citations to more than 1,300,000 articles. Covers topics in archaeology and classical studies, anthropology, folklore, history, gender studies, language and literature, economics, drama, political science, philosophy, international relations, music, sociology, journalism, psychology, religion, geography, and many other related subjects.
Coverage extends from 1907 through 1984.
