Export.gov: The U.S. Government Export Portal
- Excellent gateway to all export-related assistance and market information
offered by the federal government
- Superbly organized by subject matter such as "Export Basics" and "Market
Research"
- Gathers links to information from 14 government departments and agencies
with roles in international trade in comprehensive, easily-navigated site
- Includes country, industry, and commodity trade statistics and forecasts;
information about export requirements and international trade regulations
and agreements; and practical advice on entering and succeeding in the export
market.
- Almost all site areas are instantly accessible, without registration or
subscription, except "Partners & Trade Leads" and some "Trade Shows and
Events."
STAT-USA
- Economic, business and international trade information produced by the
U.S. government, including statistics and daily news and marketing updates
- Comprises two main areas: State of the Nation, with statistics and background
information on the domestic economy and Globus and the National Trade Data
Bank (NTDB), containing resources in international commerce
- Globus (Global Business Opportunities) offers daily trade leads from the
Trade Opportunities Program (TOPS), the Department of Agriculture, Commerce
Business Daily, the Defense Logistics Agency, and the United Nations. Includes
historical trade leads for up to three months and historical TOPS leads
for up to two years.
- NTDB provides access to Country Commercial Guides (prepared by U.S. Embassy
staff), Market Research reports, Best Market reports, and the International
Trade Library, a comprehensive searchable collection of over 40,000 full-text
documents.
- Much information in Globus and NTDB is also found at Export.gov
- Subscription database with access for current MWC students, faculty, and
staff and in-library users only. Access STAT-USA from the Simpson Library
portal and ignore text indicating that further log-in is required.
USA Trade Online
- Subscription database available for in-library use only through Federal
Depository Library collection. Ask Simpson Library Information Desk staff
to log you on.
- Statistics on current and cumulative exports and imports from 1998 to
the present for 18,000 export commodities and 24,000 import commodities
arranged according to the Harmonized Tariff Classification System (HS)
- Use to find existing and emerging export markets for products, determine
market share, and monitor trends
- User may generate reports and download to Microsoft Excel
U.S. International Trade Commission
- Independent, nonpartisan, quasi-judicial federal agency that provides
trade expertise to both the legislative and executive branches of government,
determines the impact of imports on U.S. industries, directs actions against
unfair trade practices infringement, and maintains the Harmonized Tariff
Schedule of the United States
- Site includes reports of investigations; pdf versions of the USITC's annual

- The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) provides common
