Statistical Sources

Statistical sources provide compilations and summaries of numeric data.

Statistics can aid in supporting a hypothesis, proving a theory or defending a point of view. For example, businesses look at statistics about consumer buying behavior to examine the potential market for a new product.

Statistics may be found in several types of reference books. Encyclopedias, almanacs and yearbooks are good sources of statistics. Articles in journals and magazines frequently cite statistics to support an argument.

LexisNexis Statistical is an index to thousands of statistical tables, primarily from government agencies. In many cases, the statistics are available online or are linked to another website.
