TALON MODULE 6: Finding Periodical Articles
Why Should I Use Periodicals?

For one thing, periodicals offer current information. Many newspapers appear daily, and numerous magazines are published every week that help people keep up-to-date on local, national, and international news. But timeliness is not the only factor here.

Periodicals also provide:

	pro and con opinions on various issues
	results of scientific, governmental, and other types of research
	book and film reviews
	information on topics that are newsworthy (even if only of temporary or "faddish" interest), but which are not likely to receive coverage by entire books
	historical perspectives and contemporary viewpoints on events that happened long ago. For example, periodicals published during the 1940s contain articles on the evacuation and relocation of Japanese Americans during World War II.
