Scope of Coverage

Sources may be comprehensive or have a specialized focus.

Comprehensive sources cover all aspects of the subject, and usually provide brief overviews. Those with a specialized focus only treat a small piece of the subject, usually in great depth or detail.

An example of a comprehensive source in Psychology is The Encyclopedia of Psychology (Simpson Library call number: REFB BF31 .E52 1994).

An example of a specialized source in Psychology is The Encyclopedia of Creativity (Simpson Library call number: REFB BF408 .E53 1999).
