Subject Approach II

There are three major subject areas :

the Humanities
the Social Sciences
the Sciences

The Humanities include the disciplines that bring beauty and meaning to humans or that interpret our world. Some of the subjects in the humanities are:

Art, Archeology, Architecture, Classics, Folklore and Mythology, History, Languages, Literature, Music, Philosophy, Theater Studies and Religion.

The Social Sciences include the disciplines that deal with human behavior, society or culture. Some of the subjects in the social sciences are:

Anthropology, Business, Criminal Justice, Economics, Education, Geography, Law, Library Science, Political Science, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology and Women's Studies.

The Sciences include the disciplines that examine the natural or physical world. Some of the subjects in the sciences are:

Agriculture, Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Mathematics, Medicine, Physics and Zoology.

Many topics are Interdisciplinary, meaning that aspects of the topic may be studied in more than one subject area or discipline. Many of the subject disciplines include large areas of study that are also important to other subject disciplines.
